wipers stop half way up windshield

So when I turn my wipers on they go up down and then back to the center of my windshield.  Then when its time for them to go again up all the way down and back to the center of the windshield.  What is wrong or what do I need to replace?

The wipers shouldn't "idle" so high...It sounds like the wiper linkage is out of adjustment. Check your factory service manual to be sure.

I have a 1985 corvette with a wiper issue also.  When I turn the wipers on they seem to work fine until I put the selector switch in the delay mode.  The wipers will not slow down sometimes, and also will just go to the slow speed and then will not shut off at all, no matter what position I put the switch.  Very annoying.  I have to turn the car off, with switch in the off position, and then they sometimes will return where they should be.  Is this a switch problem or what?  I can not seem to find a new switch to replace it with???  Are new wiper switches available anymore? Thanks for any help!!!
