I
have the driver side window regulator out but I am not sure what course of action to take to get the motor off of the regulator.  As you can see from the picture below that there are three large rivets that hold the motor to the regulator.  I can only reach two from the back side while the third is blocked.  On the front side, the three rivets have these huge domed caps on them. If I were to cut the caps off I am sure the motor would probably come out but what I am to use to put a new motor on.  I have a rivet gun but not one that will shoot rivets that big.  These things are huge!

Maybe these pics will better explain what I am up against:

Looks like you'll have to grind/drill the rivets out, and replace with nuts/bolts...

If you move the position of the window the track will move out of your way and you can get to the back of the rivet. I have replaced mine but you need an air rivet gun or forarms like Popeye.
   Hope this helps.

I put the newer style regulators in my '84 and got new motors when I did it.  My new motors came with screws and nuts. Can't remember where I bought the mototrs.

You can drill these rivets out and then pop them out of the holes.  Just be sure you clamp the regulator tightly or the spring will take your finger off or damage something else around you.

You can go to the hardware store and buy "binding posts" to replace the rivets.  These things have very low profile heads that will clear the gear as it moves past the  mount.

You will have to cut or grind a small slot in the side of the frame to install the one closest to the gear (top right in your picture).

All in all, it is not that hard to re-assemble. Just be careful.
