What are people in the know using on their rear hatch seal to keep the window from tearing it apart?  I just had to replace one after only three years, and considering my new one cost about twice as much as the one in the dumpster, I'd really like to make it last as long as possible!

A silicon gel rubbed into the weatherstripping helps to keep it subtle and moist.  I've had good luck with that in the past.

Like, maybe, NAPA Sil-Glyde?

Sure, that would be one of many choices.  You don't need a lot, just enough so after you've worked it in it doesn't rub off on your clothing if you brush up against it.

Great!  I have a tube of that, somewhere.  I'll give it a try.  I guess since it's silicone, once I try it, I'm stuck with it.  (see what I did there?)  Thanks for the help!

Best on the market...recommended by most every manufacturer.

I suppose if I were building a concourse queen I might consider $42.00 per oz.  My '89 coupe daily driver (8 months a year) will never get a tiara, and the most expensive fluid she sees is gasoline.  Since I already have a leftover 1/2 tube of Sil-Glyde (that makes it free) I'll just go with that.  I contacted the manufacturer (Corvette Rubber Co.)  and they simply said rub some silicone on it.
