So both the left front and rear turn signals light up, they just don't flash?
I would look for a ground problem on the rear bulb sockets first.
Do all of your hazard flasher lights work?

Vette(s): 87 Coupe Std. 250K miles. K&N intake, Magnaflow exhaust, otherwise stock.
I have a 1987 coupe that I bought used. From the time I bought it and for four years after I was plagued by an intermittent failure of my left turn signals. Whenever I checked all bulbs were functioning. Changing the flasher didn't help. Finally one of the bulbs gave it up and I've not had a problem since then. Apparently the bulb had been failing but still lit up.
I've had a couple of BMWs and Audis that indicated which bulb was failing before it stopped working completely. Not so with the 'Vette.

I also had a problem that sounds like yours. I was absolutely sure the bulbs were working fine, but once I changed them out, no more problems.

I had one on my old Meteor. Symptoms all pointed to a short in the wiring. Turned out the filament for the "brake and turn" had burned off one of the posts but it welded itself to the tail light filament so it was in fact shorted but simple to fix... change the bulb!

Vette(s): Purchased a 1986 Convert August 2013, Bright Red color with a black top, it'd already received a Tremec 5 speed upgrade along with a disc upgrade prior to purchase.
Changing out the bulbs would be the cheapest and quickest check.  Unfortunately I had something similar on my one truck.  Turned out to be the turn signal switch in the steering column was bad.  Once it was changed out, everything was fine.

So a bulb can still light up but may be going bad. I've never come across that b4.
Good info -- thanks.
