How do you remove the gas lid emblem without destroying the lid?

Vette(s): 1972 conv, 4-speed, 350, 200hp, numbers match, rally wheels, war bonnett yellow w/white top. good condition, nice driver.

It appears they have two styles. One has nubs that stick through the lid to apply it level with double stick tape to keep it secure. The other is just stuck with same style tape with no nubs. Some "Goop Off" liquid should loosen the glue, then use a thin wire or fishing line to saw through the glue and remove excess with said solvent.

The emblem with the "nubs" may be a bit problematical, but for tape or glue I use an old hair dryer (unless you are a professional with a heat gun, I would not recommend using one), warm the area and use dental floss to lift the emblem.  Afterward, as suggested, some "goof off" or some other paint-safe liquid to remove the remaining glue.
