Well now Dave, looks like my turn to help..... Finally. The roof is made of Lexan not glass. DO NOT use any glass cleaners on it, DO NOT use any cleaner with alcohol in it, I ride motorcycles religously, only use plexi-cleaners on it. One of the best cleaners you can use is "Pledge", it will do a good job of cleaning, not smearing, and not damaging the surface of the top. Another good option, and the one I use since I ride motorcycles, is to stop by you local bike shop and pick up some of the spray cleaner products used on motorcycle windshields.

Oh yea, and whatever you do, DO NOT use RAIN-X on your top.

just a habit calling it glass. great tips allan. even the shop that got it didn't have any ideas. will definately stay away from the windex etc. when i get time i will probably go by a bike shop and check out what they have. or i guess i could just do what is the best thing to clean any window (especially glass). use plain wqater and a microfiber cloth. the glas comes so clean you cant even see it. throwing all my rain-x out now.

BTW...this is exactly what makes this forum as good as it is--helping and sharing info with each other.

There are a couple good products at the bike shops. My first preference is a spray cleaner called "Honda" Spray cleaner. Even though I ride Yamahas, the honda spray cleaner is probably the best multi purpose cleaner I have found. You can use it on anything, chrome, plastic, painted surfaces, Lexan, even leather. For the roof though another good product is called "Plexi-Plus". But if you ask anyone in the parts department which cleaner do they use for the windshields of the bikes I am sure they will have a product that will do a fine job.

Good tip there! I also ride, and I have been using a glass cleaner on my windershield....might have to re-think that!
Heat plays a big role in putting those spider cracks in the tops, too. Best bet for that is to keep it covered as much as possible. The top on my '85 also suffers from the crazing cracks...my solution was to get one of those static cling, tinted shades for the inside. Now I can't see the cracks!
And it does help keep the inside temps down, too.
