I hate the PKE system.  Most of the time it is a huge pain in the *ss.  Turns itself on and off every time I pass near my C4.  Does anyone know if there is a way to convert/remove/replace the PKE system to a more conventional locking system?

I'm not sure about replacement, but I like to turn mine off when I'm around home by holding the button and letting it cycle off.  My problem, is something seems to drain the key fab battery.  It only lasts for about one driving season and it is dead.  I would think it should last many years.  I paid over $100 for a new key fab because the one that came with car was destroyed.  It wasn't the best use of funds!  Currently I drive a '96, but my previous '92 didn't have a fab, so I just got used to not using it again this year.

All you have to do is hold the door button down for a few seconds & the system goes to sleep! Reverse when you get in!

FYI, the owner's manual for my '95 says that the battery should only be good for about 18 months.

When in doubt read the directions right?  Thank you very much, now I won't spend my time trying to figure out what's draining the battery!
