Early production cars like yours had a LOT of non-typical stuff on them, including the weatherstrips. The seals around the front, lower, inner fenderwell-to-hood are different, too, as are the inside door handles.
I'm not sure, but I think the weatherstrips you bought will fit and function fine...they'll just look different.

Outside shot but try contacting the NCRS. They may have a source for you and would certainly tell you what the difference was on the seals.

Can I ask what the steps are to replace the outer door seals? How are they held in place? Rivets? I assume you have to take off the inner door panel, and drill the rivets out? I am also going to replace the weatherstripping this winter. Thanks for your time.

I don't know if all C4's are the same, but I can tell you how they were in my 96.
The door Panel does need to be removed.
The outer seal is held in place by spring clips and 3 large (1/8") pop rivets. You carefully drill out the center of the pop rivet and the head will stay on your drill bit and the tail will fall down inside the door. Then pull up on the old seal to remove it.
The seals are side specific, so choose the correct new one to install
Installing the new seal can be difficult as you have to force the spring clips over the door lip and line up the holes with the new seal and those in the door.
Install new pop rivets and reinstall the door panel
Hope this helps.
