Hello! Happy to have found this forum.  Have a '96 convertible.  The interior lights do not come on when the driver door is opened, but do come on when passenger door is opened.  So, seems it likely is not the delay timer (I hope)! Haven't yet tried WD40 on the button, or replacing it (watched You Tube video so will be my next move) but checking with you all to see if what I surmise makes sense.  Looks like a bear to get to that timer!

My vote would have to be for the door switch...might need an adjustment, or it's possible the wiring/connector on the backside has corroded..
