I have a 1990 C4. I have identified a problem with my horn lies in some issue with the horn button making contact on just one side. One side works when I press button, the other side does not.
I have a complete service manual and a second manual, neither of which illustrates how I can remove the horn buton(s) on the steering column to see what is keeping the horn from working when drepressed.
Does anyone have such an illustration or instructions on how to remove the buttons without damaging them?

Thanks for your effort in advance. I can find numerous articles on troubleshooting, fixing or replacing horn .. but nothing on hte horn button mechanism on steering column.

I'm not sure how to fix your problem but I have a similar problem with my 93 so I'll be watching this thread for advice. But I do have one suggestion: before you try to do anything with the steering wheel, disconnect the battery and remove the fuse for the air bag. Then wait at least a 1/2 hour. I believe the airbag has a dedicated battery which has to power down.

good advice from jrz. i haven't seen anything yet but if you have the service manual that would probably tell you how exactly to remove the cover from steering wheel and then you might be able to see how to remove the horn button.
