I'm thinking about changing where my fog lights get their power. Has anyone rewired the switch to allow the fog lights to get the power from the parking lights instead of the low beam headlights? I would like to have the lights stay on whether the headlights are on low or high beam. Does anyone see a problem? I could wire them direct like aftermarket lights but would prefer to run them through the switch.

I'd hafta look at the wiring diagram for a '91, but my '85 fog lights come on with just the park lights...no need for the headlights to be on....which is what I gather you want yours to do?

Thank you for replying. Yes they do come on with the parking lights and the low beam headlights. I would like them to stay on with the high beams also.

?! So you're saying the fog lamps go off when you hit the high beams? Strange. I can check wiring diagrams to see how that system is wired.

They are supposed to go off when the high beams come on, and they do. I am curious as to the difficulty in bypassing this so they stay on with the high beams on.

Abbreviated wiring diagram is attached. Diagram also shows the fog light relay to be energized by the HIGH beam...might be a flaw in the diagram. It APPEARS that you could swap the green wire for the fog lights at the headlight dimmer switch over to the tan terminal, and the foggies would work as you want. Otherwise, I might suggest just wiring in a new relay, and by-passing the headlight switch altogether.

Thank you. After looking at all the schematics I think wiring the fog lights separately is the most simple way to go.

You might want to check your State and Local regulations about lighting before you make this change;  many States have "combined candle-power" regulations which is why vehicles with factory fog lamps have the fog lamps operating with parking lights and low beam lights, but not with high beam lights.  Not sure about TX, but here in PA, a vehicle with fog lights operating with high beams would have to be brought back into compliance, or it would fail State Inspection.

Thanks for the reminder. Fortunately (for me) Tx doesn't have that limitation.
