Could anyone tell me if you need to take the driver's side door panel off to remove the plastic bezel by the door handle, lock, and wiper control area. Any help would be appreciated.

No you do not have to take the entire door panel off, as I remember from a few years ago.
However, be aware that there are two "hidden" screws above the door handle/below the door
light assembly.
