Vette(s): 1995 vette=350 LT1= automatic. Bright Aqua metallic
At night my dash dims down all the way that I can't see anything, but if I put a light up to photo cell the dash lights up the way it should. I know this photo cell is an automatic dimming system, but it goes too far. I have replaced the headlight switch and everything inside dash is fine. Is there a solution or is there a way to disconnect the photo cell and dim the dash manually if I desire to do so? It is the only little problem I have with my 87 but I want to do something. Thanx, Paul.

Do the backlights in the radio (stock), wiper switch, and heater controls function with the panel dimmer? If not, check fuses and light switch function again. I don't remember if 87 has the panel light in the bottom of the rear-view mirror to illuminate the seat controls on the center console. I know the 88-up does. If it's there, it's the easiest to use to check panel light dimmer function in daylight.
Sounds like your cluster is functioning properly. But isn't receiving the panel-dimmer signal to come back up.

Thanx to DaveP, all that work and it turned out to be a blown 3 amp fuse.

Heh, heh. Sometimes it's simple. Glad you found it.
