Connector Question

Hey Gang
I need a couple extra sets of eye.
 
'86 coupe L98 TPI manual trans w/ iron heads and 10/1985 production date.
 
I'm looking for the EST bullet connector to set the base ignition timing.  The FSM shows a bullet connector in the Tan/Black wire but I can only find the 4wire connector. The wiring diagram identifies this connector as C106 bur the connector/splice/component locator doesn't show C106.
 
Also, where is the bullet connector that I need to disconnect to clear fault codes w/o having to disconnect the battery?

The "Set Timing " Connector is just near the brake booster and below the wiper motor. You might have to dig around for it. it is a one wire connector and yes, the wire is brown with a black tracer. After you find it, warm the engine to operating temperature, unplug the connector then set the timing. This may set a code. To clear codes it is easiest to disconnect the neg batt cable. There is no "clear Codes Connector" on any GM car. You can also pull a certain ECM fuse but i dint know which one it is, there are at least three. Disconnecting the battery is easiest and quickest.

Thanks for the help.
 
The '86 FSM was totally off base for the set timing connector.  Page 8A-201-3 shows it on the right side of the car below the blower motor by the fuel pump relay vs where it actually if in your posted photo, Adam.
 
Ken, I'd never heard of a bullet connector to clear codes on a GM car either, but one is listed in the '86 FSM on page 6E3-A-8, Step6.  One could be possible installed according to the diagram on Pg 8A-20-6.

That's interesting!   I was sure my Corvette was built by GM, but I need to listen to the pro's!  I always knew my '84 was special.   Mine has a "clear codes" connector, so it must have been built by someone else!

When you disconnect the EST connector to set the base ignition timing, you'll get a error code 42.   To reset the error code without disconnecting the battery cable, turn off the ignition key (important!), then disconnect the "clear codes" connector C341, which is located (on my '84, at least) below the brake booster.   One wire is red, the other side of the connector is orange.   In my '84 FSM, this is explained on pg. 6E2-5.

I'm glad you are so good that you don't listen to the pro's, good for you. I don't have the '84 Vette shop manual, I use Snap-On Shop Key, that connector supplies power to two terminals of the ECM and as far as I can see the terminology is not "Clear Codes Connector" but that's my info and it would be the first GM car I've seen since 1979 with a connector of that name. But what do I know, I'm one of those FACTORY TRAINED techs who's opinion you don't place any value on. 

 I just go by what Ive seen and read' there are always a few variations especially with a system like yours that was used in only two model year Corvette's.

I am always trying to learn, and I do listen to the pro's!   But what am I supposed to do when the pro's don't know what they're talking about?   It's even worse when the pro's get offended and think they are the only ones who know anything.   Have you ever met anybody like that?   I'm sorry I offended you.   That certainly was not my intent!
