Ermm Has anyone either taken out the seats and/or swapped them side for side ?  The projects book indicates that they maybe swapped side for side but is not clear if this is the entire seat or just the seat backs & bottoms ? ? ?  Any forseable problems ???
   Thanks.....

I've never tried swapping left/right seats as complete assemblies....however any parts pics i've seen over the years shows seat frames/guides/tracks as different part #s for left and right. I suspect what you are reading is referring to swapping seat cushions/covers left to right side.

i believe vaughn is right. the frames are made for left and right but the seat cushions are the same. the only thing i can think of with the cushions is if you had the sport seats the buttons would be on the opposite side if you switch them. mine are regular and i can switch the cushions with no problems.

Also, there's the lumbar support incorporated into the frames to consider. Removing the seats from the shell is straight forward and in my opinion is the way too go. You'll also have a great opportunity to give the carpeting a good vacuum/cleaning while everythings removed. I was amazed at all the junk and coins that had accumulated in mine. Have fun!

Working slowly but I have one seat out and am looking at how it is put together.  I will keep everyone posted as I progress.  Old men work slowly....Rolling On The Floor Laughing

If you have sport seats, there are clear-looking rubber joints connecting the various air hoses. These can be brittle and difficult to remove without destruction, which renders them useless. The replacements can be hard to find. For that reason it is in my opinion easier to swap the entire seat; side for side, frame and all. If standard seats, it's even less hassle. It is a worthwhile time investment either way.
I hope the project goes well for you, and I hope you enjoy your Corvette!

The bottom bucket of my seat (that the cushion fits in) was split on the side. I purchased a set of used sport seats and removed everything except the bucket part (I have standard seats). I painted them to match my original interior color (white), attached them to the frame track, and snapped in the cushions! Since I only needed 1, I have an extra just in case I would need it. If memory serves me correctly, I think the seats should be returned to the same side they came out of. Good luck!

I took both of mine out for some minor repairs.  The frames look the same except for the power seat buttons and also the drivers side had an additional bracket for the GM lug wrench.

While we are on the seat subject.  Any ideas on how to better protect the billet on the left side of the drivers seat.  Replaced mine once and it is showing wear again.  Tried some seat covers but did not like the look.  I have a 40th anniv and want to keep the ruby red seats with the 40th anniv logo on the head rest.  Thinking about just taking the billet off.
