I have an '88 Targa. The CD rejects to disc 4 or 5 times before it accepts it. Is this a problem I can fix myself or do I have to have corrected by an electrical technician? Any thoughts are gladly accepted!

Sounds like a micro switch or relay. How bout a cleaning? Lots of residue builds up in 30 years.

We use the CD player in my 1995 coupe frequently and I have discovered that the CD player is very sensitive to discs that are not scrupulously clean; it also won't play a CD that I have created myself and then applied a printed label (if I create the same CD and write the information on it with a Sharpie, it plays just fine); any clean, purchased CD plays fine.
Good luck, as any road-trip is better when you take along your own tunes.

Some big box stores carry it, or can be bought online and shipped to your door.
