i bought a complete set of weatherstripping for my 90 a couple of years ago. i replaced the a pillar and still had to do the rest. had the accident and when we were putting car back together replaced all the rest.

we had to adjust the windows which we were doing when the top cracked. got the new top and all the adlusting was wasted as there was a lot of leaks. figured the old top was 20 years old.

things got put off with the snow and my  knee getting operated on. we got back to it and were having a heck of a time with the passenger window. friend at the body shop said that they weren't sitting right and that we might have to build them out a little.

i remembered the guy that sold us the car to repair mine daid he would sell me a complete set of weatherstripping for $150. talked to the guy at the body shop and said if we were going to do anything with the a pillar gasket lets replace it. said that was a great idea.

i removed the a pillar gasket and when i got the new set you could see the difference. at this point i checked the b pillar and the difference was enough that i changed that one too.

when i got everything back in place i put the new roof on and those gaskets were just as bad as the ones that i had bought orinally and wound up replacing them too.

guess what i am trying to say is that on somethings, you shouldn't try to save and buy the cheapest as you might get stuck having to buy it again and doo the work all over again.

Wow, that really sucks. Makes me glad I bought and installed mine all at the same time. Paid the extra to have them installed at a local shop and have no problems. Hope you get it all sealed up in time to enjoy the upcoming season.

they were bought at the same time except for the top which had the gaskets on it when it was replaced. as far as installing them there was no need to pay to have it done. the main problem was that the weatherstripping was cheaply made and really had some problems with the shape of it. i guess a bad mold was used. what surprized me was the gaskets on the top were funky and they came with the new top. old saying holds true...pay me now or pay me later.

btw allan... hope you don't think the second pic is another vetteRolling On The Floor Laughing

Man...that pic has gotta be violating the rules here somewhere...

Just funnin, Allan!

Dave, when I did the w-strip on the '74, I paid dang good money to get the good stuff. It don't matter what you pay, or who you get it from, some of it is just gonna be crap. I've replaced the DS B-pillar strip on mine twice, and it still ain't right...I finally just gave up. IT just will NOT lay down right. All the other stuff fit right, and seals fairly well, but that B-pillar just ain't playin...
When I did the rear window strip, and the side door windows on the '85, it was GM w-strip, and I had no problems at all with it.
