I had my battery replaced by the Chevrolet dealer last week.  On Saturday I cycled t headlights because a kid at a show wanted to see them in action. Imagine my surprise when they rotated up perfectly but then the lights did not come on and they would not retract.  I verified this again by lowering them manually and trying it again with the same results.

I've been searching the forum but have not seen this combination, has anyone seen this?

Thanks,

Mark

After further research it may not be related to the battery change.  I don't use the headlights more that a handful of times a year so it may be something else.

Problem remains, headlights go up, do not illuminate, Dash lights dim as if lights are on, al marker an parking lights work as well as fog lights.  Headlights will not retract.

Any ideas?

I think I may have figured it out. After going over the  service manual it apparently can only be one of 2 things.  Headlights or the dimmer switch itself.took the easy route first, removed the headlights and lo and behold the low beam on BOTH is out. Of course I discovered the headlight buckets had some surface rust that I just could not let go.  So until I get them refurbished I won't know for sure, but I'm pretty confident.
I'll update when I know more.

Yep, this was the problem.  Both Low beams out caused the H/L motors not to engage.  All is well now.
