Hi  People,

The RPM verticle display on the instrument cluster is not working  , but the digital (ie number  display is )   Does anyone out there have an idea how to fix it or  who can fix it?

Jack

From the sounds of this it is just a burned out light bulb. In your 88 I believe there is 4 bulbs. To get to these bulbs to change them you need to remove the cluster. Not to hard really. Also the bulbs you need are a little hard to find. In stead of me trying to explain this I will give you a link to a web site that has some very good information on the subject, including how to remove your cluster.

As a side note: I did change out the bulbs in my 88 last year. And I did it with out removing the cluster. I Used a small piece of rubber hose to go over the bulb and pulled it straight out of it's socket. Then did the same to replace it. This is not the recommended procedure, just saying.

If the fix is not simple and it seldom is. 'cause these digital electronical dashs are a huge POS.

Send it to batee.com. Brian is very knowageable. Been fixing these things for years. Nicest guy to work with. Will keep you informed thru the whole process. Not just one price fits all.
He'll check it out and just fix what's wrong. And he'll email you and let you know what he found and how much to fix.
Can't say enough good about this guy.
