1990 convertible top wont come up

  I have a 1990 convertible vette and when i push the button to raise the deck lid i hear a loud click , the passenger side will  release but the drivers side dont. Any info would be appreciated

I sometimes have this happen on my 88.
When you just give the button a quick touch it will sometimes not fully let go. Try just holding the button for a few seconds and see.

Same thing happened to me.  The cable is stretchd.  I added a pair of 1/4 inch slotted washers between the end of the cable and the actuating arm, and that solved the problem.  I took 2 aluminum washers and hacksawed slots in them to slip over the cable.  then i used some super glue to glue them together once they were in place.
This had teh effect of shortening the effective length of the cable/

Now it works fine.
