How do you know if you have the Gymkhana suspension? Were they stock/available on the CE's? I know it's like FE3, but do you look for this on the body tag? I'll give a look tonight, but any knowledge is appreciated (especially if it's "YES, YOU HAVE IT")

I'm pretty sure the only place you'll find the gymkhana suspension (FE7) in writing on the Vette would be on the window sticker or build sheet, I think either of which is available from the Corvette museum with your VIN and a reasonable fee.(don't know how much). Earlier you can tell (78/79 for instance) by the rear spring. 7 leaf vs 9 leaf which is base susp. The fiberglass spring makes that comparison difficult. Other things are larger front stabilizer bar and the addition of a rear stabilizer bar. The Black Book reports only 5400+ equipted out of 25000+ 82 Vettes produced so it's kinda rare to have it. 1982 was more of a luxury cruising era than a performance era(my own opinion!) Mike

I agree Mike, my CE's been called "elegant", and although it has great performance, 200 hp is almost an antinym to performance. (notice, not an english major here)

From my experience with a '78 with the gymkhana suspension, drive I-65 from the Tennessee line to Bowling Green and back... If your teeth are still tight you have the standard suspension. If they are loose it's a gymkhana.....

Hello,
My 82 CE has the FE7 Gymkhana suspension. As was mentioned previously, if your Vette shakes your teeth out, you have FE7. Anyway, on the 82 Vette, The standard suspension used the fiberglass rear spring and steel strut rods. The FE7 suspension used a nine leaf steel spring and aluminum strut rods. I'm thinking of switching to the standard rear spring though, the ride with the FE7 is just too hard.
Hope this helps.
Regards,
Tom

I as well have the gymkana suspension. It does show as an option on the window sticker that I purchased from the covette museum. I actually enjoy the ride since it is not my daily driver. I have not cruised in another 82' with the standard suspension so I really can't make any comparisons.
