Hi, Just curious to see where other '78 Pace Car owners have located build sheets within the car. Thanks! Franc

Franc,
The Pace Car that I have now I haven't dropped the tank, but I feel like that would be the first place I would look if I was going to look for a sheet. As I have found two or three other ones on top of other gas tanks of Vettes. But I have also heard of other people finding them under seats, behind glove compartments, in the firewall and numerous other places in the car. Here is a thread from the general discussion forum about build sheets CLICK HERE.

Thanks for the help, Doug. Yesterday, I spent a couple of hours trying to get the screws out of the trim piece holding the carpet in on the driver's side, but the previous owner stripped the head of the screw and I couldn't extract it. The other three screws came out fine, but I didn't want to chance ruining the chrome trim piece. I suppose trim piece's can be bought, but I'l like to keep mine original if possible.
Take care,
Franc

Mine was stuffed up above the differential housing. Slight burn from proximity to the exhaust pipe but otherwise in great shape!

I have my Pace Car's build sheet. I don't know where it was originally located but was included in the sale.

On my Pace Car I dropped the rear exhaust y pipe so that I could get at the antenna easier to replace the broken mast. I decided to remove the diff. heat sheild to clean it while I was there and the build sheet fell out and landed on my face! It was tucked up into the strut rod mount and held in place by the heat sheild. This prompted me to begin a search for the build sheet for my Silver Anniversary. I found it today. It was on the drivers side of the gas tank. I was able to reach up between the fender and the exhaust by the antenna and pull it out. Most of it that is! Was barely legible. Mike

I visited the museum this past week to study 81-82 build sheets. I put together what I call a "Build Sheet Template" that lists each box number and indicates the reference.
Those buildsheets I've seen show rather clearly the broadcast codes but the printed information is difficult to read. The template explains what each code represents. I'll send a copy in exchange for a copy of your build sheet. Drop me a note if interested.

I have a pretty legible copy for my 79. The Pace Car copy is beautiful but oil soaked and don't know how well a photocopy would turn out. The 78 Sil. Ann. is a rag! Be happy to send the 79 or try for a copy of the Pacer. I should probably make myself a copy anyway. Mike
