I have to agree with all of the above on the Quadrapukes. They are good at what they are designed to do...dump fuel in. Hardly ever really have one that just cain't be fixed. Can ya say that aboot a Holley? The only real issue with Quads is whether or not someone has overtightened the thing on the intake, warping the top, or breaking the ears on the base plate.
I'll take a Quad over anything. Holley's are just too finicky for me, and as was stated above, only work when WOT. If you're runnin a drag car, or road racer, you may be better off with the Holley. For everyday drivin, stick with a good working Quad.
Now then, back in da "good ol days", the Carter AFB was the one I would run. Had two of them on the Hemi '66 Charger I had. They were good too. But...the Edlebrock crap they have masquerading as AFBs now are junk, IMO...

As far as the secondaries not opening on the Quad, make sure the choke is FULLY opening. It is the choke that locks the secondaries out when cold. It works on the little lever on the right side mentioned above. Also, you may have a linkage issue that is keeping them from opening. You can remove the lock-out lever, but it's not recommended that you use WOT until the engine is fully warmed up...can you say"Oh Sh#t"?Adams' Apple2007-03-04 10:38:37

I had a Holley on my 76 Mustang when I was in high school. Seems I was all ways screwing with it. Q-jet on the vette works great and needs no adjusting.
As far as secondaries not working, make sure the air valve on top is moving freely and check your throttle cable travel. Mash the throttle pedal to the floor and have some one check to see if the secondary is open all the way. Make sure the engine is off before you try this or you might be picking parts off the floorLOL

I have used both Holley and the quad. through out my life.Holley is just to finiky,One little backfire and you are replacing the power valve. My wife just took the new holley off on her 71 Z/28 and is going to replace it with the Eldelbrock quad/600CFM.I'm going to clean and rebuild the holley and sell it.As a matter of I've got another Holley that is New.750CFM,I'm going to sell that one to.I say they are new but they have been but on the car and ran the engine but they never made it out of the driveway so they have 0 miles on them.I love the quad jet.Very simple to tune and they STAY in turn. Not so with holley.Like whats been said before,Holleys are good for racing applications.

Not on a Hemi, you freak!   Dual AFBs, Baby!!!
Now THERE'S a piece-o-crap...Thermo--Quad!!! You'd be just as well off sitting under the hood pouring fuel down the intake out of a plastic Coke bottle!

Funny I found this on EBAY after reading the post yesterday. This guy has several years of manuals besides this one posted as well as a carb...

Thanks for pointing that out Joel!!! I didn't check this since I wasn't bidding.

Since your mentioning I did look over his feedback comments though and found them all to be good. There was one mention about slow return from the Phillipines.

Good ta know yer still speakin after the ThermoQuad wisecrack I made.....

I sent you a PM on a nice lil 74 with some memrobilia to try and make up for it. Let me know how that turns out.
