Vette(s): 1969 C3 Coupe. Was an L-46 now a ZZ3 w/M-21 4-speed, manual steering and brakes, 3.70 Posi. Red with Balck interior, non-numbers matching.
I have a 69' Coupe with the original 4-row copper radiatior that has seen better days. The car is an L-46, M-21 with NO power options.
Any suggestions on where to find a direct replacement for this car?
It has the 26.5", 4-row copper radiator and I would like to replace it with the same.
I know everyone has nothing but rave reviews for the aluminum radiators out there but honestly, the copper one never gave me any cooling issues whatsoever and I don't really feel the need to go there now.
I also don't feel the need to spend $400-$500 for a radiator-
Any suggestions on where to look for a copper 4-row with no trans cooler? I don't want to have to do any modifications or fabricating- Just drop in and go. Am I dreaming or is this possible?
Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks!
Elm

Ecklers sells some drop in replacements.  I got one in aluminum, but I think they have it in Copper as well for most years.  Other things to consider: If you car is mostly original, since it's a much sought after '69, I would try to keep it that way as much as possible, so I would consider taking to a radiator shop and seeing if they can save it.  Of course, that's just one man's opinion and this man is sufficiently psycho that I haven't yet thrown away the old radiator to my '81 and I think it's pretty safe to say that year will never sell for big bucks at B-J's auction.

Sorry, I just looked at your signature AFTER I posted.  Looks like you have no worries about originality, unless you have the original motor tucked away somewhere.

I just had my copper radiator re-cored at a local shop for $350.00.

I have no experience with the "direct-fit" replacements, but I do know that I won't have is a fit problem with the re-core.

Good luck,

Anthony

Try E-Bay - there are "new" copper ones often offered or look at sellers other auctions

I agree about re-coring the radiator you have. It should save you bucks and you know you'll have no problems with fitting it back in.

If you go that route, ask the radiator shop about installing a new core with more fins per inch. It will have increased cooling surfaces and cool more efficiently.

Dewitts is the best supplier for 'Vette radiators, but they are VERY proud of their products! I'd have to agree with the others about a re-core. Find a good radiator shop and have them do it, and save the $$$.
