Anyone out there have any experience on converting a carburated C3 with an after market multiport EFI system such as Edelbrock or Holley? What are the advantages? Is there increase in power? Is it worth the buck? |ohwell|

Do you want to spend that kind of money? Holley has a TBI system that will bolt right onto your intake for less than half the cost of a TPI system. In fact Corvette Fever did a show and tell on this conversion, off hand I do not remember which issue. If I find it I'll let you know.

Fuel injection is well worth the money. My 83 pickup jumped 4 mpg going carbureted to Tuned-Port and the power difference is amazing. They start better in cold weather. If you shop around you can do a good TPI conversion for around $1000. $400 harness, $100 PROM, $100 fuel pump, $400 TPI unit, $20 ECM, $30 hoses and clamps. That would be with a new harness, if you are willing to cut up an F-body harness you could do it cheaper. If you have a relatively stock engine in my opinion stock TPI is the way to go.

IMO all cars should have EFI's I have Edelbrocks Multi Point EFI bolted on my 454 BB and there's no way I would go back to tuning carbs EVER again! |cheers|

Tell me more! More HP? How can that be unless your carb system was not working properly. They all deliver fuel. Delivering the proper amount at the right time == HP.
So tell me more, I am very interested in doing the swap also. And the CF article stated that, the carb put out more HP. If you noticed, CF did not use a stock engine, why not? |rollysmile|

I will be putting an Edelbrock 3550 EFI on my 454. Actually it should have been on it a year ago but I can not get the block back from the guy who has it. I would certainly expect a 3 to 4 mpg increase and definate improvement in reliability over a carb. especially in cold weather.
