you do not want stainless steel on any part of an exhaust system -it retains heat like a $2 pistol

Check out this story. I think you may find it interesting. Any metal will hold heat, but retaining it inward is very important and stainless gives you benefit of ceramic plus durability and the look that Ceramic cant touch.

I have pair of Stahl side pipe headers and home made side pipes. You can also get them in SS.

OK, thermodynamics 101. SS heats up and still transfers the heat making your engine bay an oven. not good. ceramic coatings on heaters and other exhaust parts impedes heat transfer and therefore you have a cooler engine bay.

I have the original sidepipe covers on my car. ( changed the pipes themselves to 3" tubes with Summit baffled mufflers). I intend to keep the stock covers forver. They are expensive BUT you can drive the car all day long and lay your hand on the covers and NOT get burnt. I am sure there are plenty of you out there ( you or your wife or significant other ) that has burns on your legs from Hooker or any other manufacturer's sidepipes. Scars ( or actually lack of scars )on your calfs make the expense of the stock covers worth-while.

Well, keeping in heat helps air become less dense. Ceramics are better than chrome. Be sure to get STS baffles or equivalent. (stock Hooker glass packs are restrictive)
