Anyone know where the timing bypass connector that I need to disconnect is? The manual doesn't say or the underhood label. I tried searching the forum with no results.

Should be on firewall, brown or tan wire.

Vette(s): 1982 C3 Collectors Edition 44000 miles, sat in the sun most of its life, My wife purchased it for me for Father's Day in 2007 from her girlfriend that had it for 19 years. It is on the road again. I'm retired but it is now my daily driver.
EST wire can be found on the driver's side near firewall, brown or tan
with black line on it. Be careful when you disconnect it.
I did find this when I was doing some research.
"the tan & black is the HEI disconnect, it's part of the wiring harness and it has a brown connector on MOST 82's, however some early ones didn't have it, in which case you have to install one yourself. It's part of the EST harness that goes into the back of the distributor base, not the 2 connectors (+ & -/tach) for the coil."
Remember you are looking to disconnect the EST buy pass not HEI
Try pasting this link in your browser it has some good info and pictures,

Looks like I'll be putting my own in using a single wire connector. Thanks for the help!

I saw this thread a little late but wanted to post some pics in case it may help others in locating this same connector on an 82, hope they help.

Great pictures! That helped alot. I was looking for a different style connector that I remember on some older GM cars and trucks. Thanks again.
