I am thinkin of replacing my radiator and wanted to know advantages and disadvantages  of going with aluminum vs standard copper and brass.

A Dewitt's aluminum radiator is 1 million times better.  Big smile  Really.

its lighter,  radiates heat better, better looking, kinda like a 300lb vs 110lb woman, just don't poke a hole iner....no...more like a trillion times better.

'Luminuminum is lighter, which takes a bit of weight off the front of the car. It also transfers heat much better, as has already been said. It is a bit more fragile than the copper/brass raditator, so a little care is needed around it.

i think that it would kinda go with the whole chrome thing I am lookin for and when and if I change the motor itll already be done. thanks for input, Now how bout price. best I have found was around 500 is that accurate and does anyone know of a less expensiv source. This one is at Zip. MAM was about 600

What I would want is a direct bolt in so I could hook up all my stuff back up without having to make anything up  for it to work, if I had big HP motor and AC I would want as many rows as possible, I would want "Made in USA"on it somewhere,......you can get universal models cheaper on e-bay but then your back to step 1, did you give a thought about Dewitt, $500 is about the going price, MAM it seems is always higher,Zip who knows where  the produces come from, in all my endevers I've always tryed to have the best I could afford "you make the call"

Anips is right on William. If you go aluminum pay the extra bucks for Dewitt, Griffin something made in USA. I am seeing a lot of overseas alum. rads coming in and leaking right out of the gate. One guy got his on Ebay. Looked like a lawn sprinkler. Only disadvantage of alum. is there is only so much you can do if they leak. As far as copper & brass rads they're becoming very scarce and pricey because of the high price of copper. You can have it recored, but you want to make sure your tanks aren't fatigued. Quite common on older Vettes. I know first hand as I recored mine and soon the inlet tank let go. Joel is right alum. is lighter and disipates the heat better than copper "T"

I have a Dewitts.  Been real happy.  Fits like a glove.  Car runs cooler.
If you are patient, they are on sale once in a while.  Other than that, mine was around 5 big ones.Wink
