Vette(s): 1970 T-Top350/350hp numbers matching 4 speed. It's a mess and 1970 Convertible 4 speed.
Hey I just pickup a 70 vette and I am having problem with the carb. First it does not stay at idle it dies and when you go down the street in and punch it it dies. Do I need a tune up or a rebuild carb?

Sounds like a good place to start your project, to me!
Might take a look at the filter in the carb inlet first, to see what kind of funk is in there.

If the carb has never been rebuilt, it sounds like it should have it done just on general principles.

You mentioned in your first post about this car that you could see rust "in" the gas tank. Check to see if there is an in-line fuel filter and if so, change it. As Joel said check the in-carb filter too. I bet it is full of particles. A carb kit may be in order but check the filters first.

It'll never run like a fine watch without a tune up  Big%20smile.
