I had a gas leak and yesterday I took my tank out from
under my 78 L-82 Silver Anniversary model. One of the
rubber lines on top of the tank was bad and I replaced
all of them. I then ran into the real problem. Where the
straps mounted around the tank, it was pitted and
started to leak on both sides. Since the tank is plastic
lined we couldn't brase it. We then cleaned it and used
2 gas tank repair kits. For now it's working but I want
to find a new tank. All of my parts books list tanks up
to 1977 and for 1978 models they say they are not
available. Does anyone know where I could find one? John

I called them this summer about a 7? gas tank for a customer, pricing was right in line with what we were charging for a new gas tank for anything else at the yard I was working at, so give them a shot.

Try Quantaq products. I believe they are in Maryland. They supply the tanks for zip products. I put a tank in my '72 and am very happy with it.
