Vette(s): 1978 greenwood custom vette, 468 blower motor side pipes.

Just finished putting top of motor together, did the pre-load according to book and instruction from this forum. After it ran yesterday for about a half hour, I lifted the hood and couls still hear some valve train noise. Should I be concerned or just leave ot the way it is.

Or I was thinking about running with valve covers off and finding culprit and just snugging down.

Obviously I am afraid of making too tight.

any thoughts

TAKE THE VALVE COVERS OFF ONE SIDE AT A TIME. RUN THE ENGINE, BACK OFF EACH NUT, ONE AT A TIME UNTIL THE VALVE STARTS CLACKING. TIGHTEN IT DOWN SLOWLY UNTIL THE NOISE STOPS AND THEN ADD 1/4 TURN. THIS SHOULD SOLVE THE PROBLEM ASSUMING YOU ARE RUNNING HYDRAULIC LIFTERS.
