Installing newer climate controls

I searched around, but didnt see another thread on swapping out the climate controls on a C3 with those from a newer vehicle. If anyone knows of such a thread, I apologize for starting a new one, so please post the link to the original thread.

OK...as the title suggests, I'm looking to replace the controls with more modern ones. I'm doing a full interior swap with a custom dash, console, door panels, etc. The new controls don't have to come from a newer Corvette. They just have to be more modern than the ones in my 79.

My question is, has anyone here done such a swap? What do I need to look out for? Is it even possible? Any information will help me a ton when choosing what controls to put in, and how to make them work.
