Vette(s): 1975 convertible,with the hard top and power streering.it a 350 L48 with auto trans. the color is light blue.
 THERE WAS A COUPLE OF POST ABOUT THE HEAT INSIDE THE CAR,THE REPLY WAS TO PUT  VALVES ON THE HEATER HOSES. DOSE ANYONE HAVE ANY PICTURES OF WHAT THIS LOOKS LIKE AFTER THEY ARE INSTALLED.I AM THINKING OF DOING THIS,BUT WOULD LIKE TO SEE HOW IT LOOKS FIRST.ALSO CAN ANYONE TELL ME THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN THE VALVES FROM LOWES AND NAPA?

NAPA has them. One is 5/8" and the other is 3/4". I cut the hoses under the car and the valves are out of sight. I makes a huge difference in radiant heat coming from the heater core.

I recently got real interested in this, too. An unrelated problem (turned out to be in the distributor) caused me to loose my focus.
 
Ranger3,
By doing this job under the car, did you cut the hoses towards the rear of the engine compartment under the heater core?
By doing so, there is obviously no coolant entering back in to the motor via the Intake Manifold. Is this OK for the motor?
Does a lack of coolant in the heater core cause any issues once you open the valves again for the cool weather?
 
I think this sounds like a smart idea but I gotta go ahead and ask away on this.

I installed the valves in the same area as the factory valve was located. This way I could open or close valves with out getting under the vette. So far I have had no issues with this.

I mounted mine under the car as well, near the heater core where the hoses make the turn upward to the core connectors.  I have to reach under the car to get to them but dont have to put it on ramps or jack it up to turn them on or off.  Turn them off in the spring, turn them back on in the fall.  I used the valves from NAPA but have seen some pretty good looking quarter turn valves from the hardware stores.  The valves from NAPA are UGLY !!! thats one reason I put mine under the car.

Vette(s): 1982 Black, ZZ4, Hooker Side Pipes, 3.55 Rear, Rebuilt & upgraded 700R4, All new suspension, brakes, & new Charcoal interior.
I think the NAPA valves look just fine, they are nice & compact. I had a valve fron Lowes, but it is a plumping valve and looks like Bubba issue.
I heard the Advance & Auto Zone have them for about half the price of NAPA's valves.
 
I have mine up top, just because it's easier Thumbs%20Up
 
Kevin, there is no problem using these valves, it will not harm the engine at all. Try it, you'll like it LOL
