I put a pair of KBD twin tip Targa mufflers on my '80 and I think they sound great. Very throaty with a great rumble. I have a short video on youtube...type in 80 corvette kbd exhaust. The audio is not the best but you get the idea.
Mid America used to sell them but you may need to look around some to find them. Here is a link to e-bay for you. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Corvette-C3-Mufflers-Chrome-Tips-KBD-Targa-78-82-/350404488889

You might look at Flowmaster 40s but a lot of people seem to think they are very loud.

I went with the chambered muffler and exhaust kit from MidAmerica. Absolutely love the sound! It makes that nice ripping noise when you are on it, and is nice and loud with a good burble at idle. I think it sounds a lot like the old glass packs, but it is up to each ones ear. I wanted it loud and proud and that is what I have. They sell them for both header and stock manifold set ups. the tailpipes are just two single 2.5" pipes at the back. Good luck.

I've got Flowmaster 40s and love em - but ya gotta like it loud - much louder than turbo mufflers.
