I have seen the prices range from about 150 up to over 800.  Again it depends on the quality, sound and the shop.

I'm going to cheat to begin with.  I have a 75 stock exhaust.  The cat was removed and a "test pipe" installed before I got it.  I am going to cut the front and rear y pipes, and have a left side pipe put in at the local muffler shop where they have the pipe bender.  (Wish I had one) I will weld a small plate over the right side pipes where the left pipes were connected.  I can do this for probably less than 50 bucks.  Granted I will do the cutting and welding on the right myself. Okay it's cheating a bit.  When I do replace the system I will go with true duals.  But for now it will be true duals, in the  right shape and place.

Where can I get headers for my 1976, 350C.I. with AC and what about  the emissions test that is required in my state, what do I have to modify.. Thank you

 

 Well I don't have it back yet but it was 1000.00 exactly with tax.  The major cost was  replacing two cats (didn't have any), and the mufflers. 300.00 + Labor and well you can guess the rest. The original system had 1 Cat and 2 y pipes so I'll have a true dual now. Good thing is I shouldn't have to mess with it ever again...Lifetime warranties are a great thing.

 I also got to loosen up the stuck E-brake wire while it was on the lift, so that's another thing from my list.....

Did they do the system in all stainless? $1000 seems average for theses car. Sidepipe systems are about a grand. Well you won't have to do any exhaust work for quite sometime now.

 

Stainless is very expensive. It's also much harder to work with...more difficult to weld, more difficult to get a clamp around as it's such a hard metal. It also will stretch as it heats.

If you're willing to put up the extra cost and getting it fitted properly, it will last a long time. I think most shops and suppliers will think aluminized steel is more cost efficient as well as much easier to work with. I got a complete aluminized dual system for my '78 from Corvette Central for less than $275 and it fit up exactly. It's been on the car for nearly two years and still looks and sounds great...but my car is garaged and that certainly makes a difference in any exhaust system.
