I have located, for sale, a N.I.B. Holly/Q-jet Carb. It is no doubt for a C-3 Big block. The guy is pushing to sell it. What is it worth? I do not plan to use it myself, but thought a friend of mine could use it on his 454.

Is it a Holley, or is it a Quadrajet? Two different carbs. Corvettes never used a Holley spread bore carb...they either had the Quadrajet, or a "normal" square bore Holley. Quadrajets were made either by Rochester OR Carter....The Rochester Carb division did sublet carb manufacturing out to Carter, so either one would be "correct"...but not a Holley spreadbore.
Do you have the numbers for the carb? Value is gunna depend on the original application, such as engine size, HP, trans, etc.

Not to confuse the topic - but on "The Toy" there is a Holley spread bore. I found out directly from Holley that it is a Q-Jet replacement made for the 350ci in the 1980s. And if memory serves the 1970-72 LT-1s had Holley carbs.

As a replacement, yes....I should have clarified that, but never as original equipment, which is what I thought Mark was inferring. If the carb in question is simply one that will "fit" a big block, then the value is prolly around $100 or so, even tho it is new.

My querry was for any information on the Holly/Q-jet. I am not familiar with the unit. I have seen one on a 74' 454, and thought they were suppose to be there. The car was sold to him in original equiptment condition as per him. I'm just learning bout them. PRICE, Just wonderin if it's worth buying and keeping it for others to use. I have some Q-Jets laying around, and thought another one wouldn't hurt. Depending on price of course.

Mark...it is either a Holley Spread Bore, OR a Rochester/Carter Quadrajet. Both are spreadbore carbs, with the large secondary bores, but only the Rochester/Carter is actually called "Quadrajet".
IMOH, an original, GM replacement Quadrajet would be worth more $$$ to the right person needing one. A Holley spreadbore is just too common to be worth paying very much, since it was never used on a Corvette from the factory.

WHOOPS! Can't do pictures, only letters. Not to smart with these putors. O.K. it must be a HOLLY SPREDBORE. It looks like a Q-jet to me, so..... Guess I'll let the guy keep it.

Holley 650cfm Spreadbore
Rochester 750cfm Quadrajet.
I may have had a few too many brain farts, but I don't recall ever seeing a Holley-built Quadrajet. I HAVE seen what Holley had that was called the "Econojet", that looked a LOT like a Quadrajet...but was quite a bit smaller, bore-wise, and had several other differences.....maybe that's what the guy has....Joel Adams

YEAH! That looks like the feller. Has a ? accelerator pump on the front bottom like that one. Electric choke, and the rear bores are much bigger than the front ones. Soooooo......., are they any good? Are they worth anything? Better/worse than O.E.M.

I put one of them there Holley spreadbore carbs on my 73 after the motor rebuild. It took a little to get it tuned to my car but it runs real good. Not sure I had any real issue with the original carb but a few beers and a Summit catalog can cause for some new projects just because. After all, just being able to say you have a Holley has to be worth something.
