I read a few posts about the successful use of Holley fuel pumps. For a street driven moderately modified engine using a Holley 4160 600CFM vac secondary carb, would the "Red" Holley pump(Internal presuure regulator) suffice, or the "Blue" pump(External regulator required, higher LPM.

Thanks,

NJ BB Ken

The Red pump will work just fine. The difference between the red and the blue are the operating pressures, therefore the blue pump requires a fuel pressure regulator.

In certain cases, usuall with edelbrock, carter, and some q-jet applications a regular is even required with the red pump. These carburetors have fuel needle and seats that will not hold back the 7 psi operating pressure of the red pump. All Holley carbs are factory set to 7.5 PSI on the needle and seat.

I was planning on purchasing a pressure regulator...any recommendations on where to purchase? Thank you.

I like the holley regulator that comes with the blue series pump...

it can be purchased separately

holley part 12-803 for aluminum

or 12-501 for chrome
