I used weatherstrip adhesive..  i think it cleans up a little easier..

I did mine with the sender installed, the antisqueek you get from vette vendors is 10lb roofing felt, I went to the hardware store and got tar and gravel felt and made my own, 4x's the thickness,3M'ed them to the rear,front, cross and tank traps,with mufflers in place but rear hangers disconnected I worked the tank in place and held the tank up with a piece of 1x2 that ran side rail to side rail till I got the front tank crossmember up and the bolts startedanips38401.8440856481

Vette(s): 1972 coupe/350 cid/mild cam/4 spd/20 ft. paint (looks perfect from 20 ft.), but it sure runs nice.

Now that's a blow-by-blow description if I ever saw one.....
