Yep, as Joel stated above the 82 "in tank" pump and sending unit can be removed through the fill hole in the body of the car without tank removal once the filler door and ring are removed from the hole. It takes some twisting and turning and a good sprinkling of blue language but it will come out when you get the thing turned just the right way. The sending unit for your 78 looks very much like the one for the 82 with the exception that the 82 has the fuel pump attached. Id go ahead and order a new sending unit gasket and replace that while I was there.

Also, I got the build sheet. Sitting right on top of the tank.

Sorry Jeff. Got hung up for a couple of days. What a refreshing change for me. On the right is the pickup and return line, can't think of anything else it might be besides a vent tube. I'll take a look tomorrow.Jimmy B.

Replaced the sock in the tank and just for kicks the 2 rubber lines at the pump, but I'm sure it was the sock all clogged up with old gas and crap. I'm glad I had the carb rebuilt anyway. The guy showed me all the gaskets and stuff and they looked pretty bad. Starts and idles a lot better than the Silver Ann so I think that one's in line for a carb rebuild also.Just wanted to give an update on another C3 success story.

Thanks everyone for the help and suggestions.
