fuel line

Got another one of them novice-type questions........I've replaced my gas tank and rubber hoses and flushed the lines with compressed air to remove debris. Obviously, there's not a trace of fuel left anywhere in those lines. Would "priming" them with fuel using a syringe device be advisable before start-up? My main goal is to minimize stress to the starter and battery. Anybody out there do this?

 Ok, so it's the ol' lawnmower trick. Thanks, Ron....I thought it would be a big deal getting gas back up to the engine if the lines were dry. The pump's fairly new.

I just put on a rebuilt carb ('69 L-46 Q-Jet) & a new fuel line set (pump to carb) last weekend.  Don't forget that gravity will help you out.  Once you get some gas in the tank, it will flow to the pump.  I had a nice stinky leak (attached garage = po'd wife) from the pump until I was able to get the new line from the pump fully tightened.

Despite having an empty carb & filter ('68's have a full-size filter between the pump & carb), my car started right up.

I had a much harder time starting the car with the old carb (not original Q-Jet).  It completely bled out between starts and I had to crank the starter pretty good to get it started.  

My bet is that your's will start up pretty quick.
