Vette(s): 1979 corvette metallic silver/red leather interior

Got my 79 back from the shop with my new true dual system! i cannot believe how good it sounds!!!   i ordered the kit from corvette central with the magnaflows. Now it sounds like its right from the 60's! it has a nice mellow sound but not loud at low RPM, but when i get on it, man does it come alive! I dont even bother with the radio anymore it sounds so good!

now although its mostly stock, i really feel a big improvement in  power too. dont know how much HP i gained, but i feel it for sure

Pics to come

Vette(s): 2005 Daytona Sunset Orange Metallic Coupe --------------------- Sold 1974 T-top, 4 spd to BillKS

I put the Magnaflow kit on my 74 last year, and I think the sound is great.

I got the 2 1/2" aluminized pipes and mufflers.  Of course, my 74 had duals to start with, but the pipes were in pretty bad shape and the mufflers were shot.  I replaced from the rams horns all the way back.

A word to the wise, if you don't have access to a lift and tube bender, it would be easier to take it to a good muffler shop and have them put it on.  Saves a lot of sweat and strain and probably a better installation.

hey big john- this is the kit i bought:

http://www.corvettecentralexhaust.com/c3perfdual.htm

couple things to be aware of though: the pipes are a very tight fit through the frame- so it will be a pita to get it aligned just right, and the kit they give you to adapt the center hanger has rubber isolators that in my opinion need to be at least 2x thicker. id put some extra material in there if you can.

other than that, its a good quality item

and unless you have the space to do it right, definately get a good shop to do it for you like the previous poster reccomended. youll thank yourself later!!

I installed that kit on my '78 and it definitely freed up some horsepower and torque. How much from reduced backpressure and how much simply from eliminating the old catalytic converter I don't know. Either way the end result was very positive.

I replaced the whole system on "The Toy" a few years ago in the small old single car garage with the car up on jack stands.  I've spent more enjoyable time out in the garage but it was definitely not the worst.
