Am I nuts or on a 79 is the filler neck part of the sending unit?? Everything I see leads to the answer being yes, but need some reassurance.

Dan, I had mine out of the '78 last year. looked like one complete unit. Yours had the inside chewed up where some idiot from long ago wanted to keep putting leaded gas with the fat nozzle in there, Right? If you pull it out to change it or try to fix it replace the sock and the tank gasket while yer in there.

Thanks all, I pulled the fuel door and the overflow boot off yesterday and could see it all. It looks like an easy enough fix.....Are there any safety precautions I should take when removing it not to cause any static sparks, or lost parts in the tank....
