My heater fan is making a high pitched noise. I think it got a leaf or piece of debris in there. It looks like a pretty tight space since this is an A/C car. Is there a trick to getting it out of there?

You'll have to remove the rad overflow bottle, then just wiggle/twist/turn/cuss to get the motor out....but it will come out thru there.
then just wiggle/twist/turn/cuss.
Shouldn't this be moved to "anything goes"?

If you can get the vette up...(on a Hoist or ramps) You can get some access from underneath, up past the starter area

Got her done! Didn't even have to cuss although the overflow tank was a bear to get out. After finally getting it out of the way, the fan was easily removed. I found a piece of paper towel and an old gas receipt in there. After putting it back together, the fan runs very quietly. Thanks to all for your input....you too Larry.

Paper towel and an old gas receipt?!?
Scott, make sure the wire screen(s) for the ends of the wiper trough are there, and in a good position to keep the big stuff out of there. They don't fit that well from the factory, so most of them wind up falling down in that area, and that lets junk get into the fan cage.
Glad ya got it handled, anyway.

Will do Joel. They seemed to be in the correct position but I am going to give it a second look. I surely don't see how the paper got into the fan.
