FWIW, I just stopped off at a recommended muffler shop for a quote. $380.00 for custom welded exhaust and a pr. of flowmasters. All furnished and installed. From the headers back.

Vette(s): 1981 - 59 Beige over Cinnebar leather. Edlebrock top end, 2200 stall w/shift kit, 3:55s, Mufflex maniback exhaust, nice stereo, 16 in AREs w/BFGs
I paid 1100.00 for my manifold back exhaust system.  It was stainless and had a new cat, o2 sensor, tips and Dynaflows. 380.00 sounds WAY cheap.  Even a catalog kit is over 700.00 and doesnt incl labor

I paid 425 for 2 1/2" aluminzed win flowmasters From the headers back - couple of years ago. I don't think you're too far off given the economy...

Sounds almost too good to be true. If it is quality tubing, that is an exceptional deal.

Gene, cats are so high on the stolen list that there is a company making anti theft cages that you lock onto your cats to prevent theft!BTW, the system I was quoted included aluminized pipe,no stainless or high tech stuff, but it is all welded up except for one joint.

Sounds about right to me for regular pipes and flowmasters. Should sound pretty nice.

Our standard price for a complete system, including clamps and donuts, is $379.95, so your quote seems to be in the ballpark.  Our supplier will make a muffler with fewer baffles if you want more noise.

VetteSpecialties,

Are your complete systems custom made with the car in your shop, or can you fabricate a direct bolt-on system to be shipped? I'm looking for a good bolt-on system that will require no welding on my part. Your prices are right in line with what I can spend, and I'm interested in your mufflers with fewer baffles.

Thanks in advance for your help...

Our systems are made by our supplier to be an exact duplicate of the factory systems.  They will make the early years either welded as original or with a joint in front of the muffler for cheaper shipping.  They can be shipped anywhere.
