Vette(s): 1971 T-top, 350, auto, average condition mechanically. Needs paint.

I need some help finding exhaust tips.  I am replacing the exhaust system on my '71 and considering 3" and 2 1/2" aluminized steal systems.  I want my Vette to look stock on the outside and I am having a hard time finding stock looking & fitting exhaust tips.  Any suggestions on where to find them?  Once again, thanks for your help!

Why hard to find? What are you looking for? Several places have OEM style SS exhaust tips for 70-72s. The tips should have an  inlet offset from center and should fit a 2" muffler outlet pipe.

I recommend exhaust pipes no larger than 2 1/2 inches.  With dual exhaust, there isn't enough backpressure with 3 inch unless you have a high horsepower engine.

Back pressure? We don't need no stinkin' back pressure. Dead We have tuned headers, mandrel-bent pipes, high flow mufflers, chambered exhaust systems, etc. all with an interest of reducing obstruction to flow. Why then do we need "backpressure"? I would believe that the exhaust pipes not be too large for a given engine so as to not unnecessarily decrease the exhaust flow velocity and not to create backpressure. An engine is going to run without back pressure. That is, as long as we are not creating an excessively lean fuel situation that would possibly cause burned valves.
