Vette(s): 1975 Coupe, owned since October 2005. Stock apart from minor engine mods, cam, carb and headers to dual exhaust.

Ok, so after deciding the Hooker sidepipes were just too expensive for me to get here in the UK, I looked at the chambered exhaust setup from Mid America, the one for use with headers. Looked a good price and apparrently sounds great. Then I read some other post saying how restrictive they are......

I want a grumble at idle, a good cruise note and a roar at WOT! I have a 2 1/2 inch dual system at mo with cats and stock mufflers. I will of course remove the cats but what muffler should I go for, or should I go for chambered.

Anyone here have any audio clips of their cars?

how expensive are the pipes over there..  i would think with the fact that the pound is nearly 1:2 on the dollar that it would be very affordable to you.

also..  another option to look at for hooker pipes is buying them from jet hot coatings.  Their coating is much better than hooker's and they will buy the headers, coat them for you, and sell them for less than hookers coated product.

another option is classic chambered..  they make chambered mufflers that are very low restriction

he has sound clips as well

The problem with getting the hookers is that they retail at around $1200, then I have to ship to UK and usually the main shops want to send via UPS or Fedex which is expensive. Then when they get here in the UK, the customs man says ahaa! and takes 10% of purchase price + shipping as import duty and then another 17.5% of the purchase price+ shipping + import duty...a tax on a tax!!!

Ends up being mega $$$$$

Will look at jet hot, sounds good....Thanks

I have been running Walker 2-1/2" Dyno-Max welded mufflers. I think they run about $150 USD/ set. You can see straight thru them. They are relatively quiet at cruise speed but really ROAR when I nail it.

PM me your e-mail address, I can send you a 2 meg video clip with the sound.
