I am posting my very first question since joining late last year and any feedback will be appreciated.
I have been researching some alternative gas supply systems for my 79 and am interested in Edlebrock products. My question is if anyone has used the Edelbrock Performer series carburetor and intake manifold setups on a late 70's L48 engine?
I am leaning toward the manual choke 600 cfm, model 1405 which is calibrated for Performance as apposed to being calibrated for Economy. This has primary jets of .100 and secondaries of .095 and metering rods - .070 x .047.
The intake I have in mind is the Performer EPS model designed for 1986 and earlier 262-400 ci. small block Chevy engines. It is set up for idle to 5500 rpm performance with optimum performance at 3500 rpm.
Let me know if you have any feedback on other products as well. I am
considering making some top engine changes only for now. I may rebuild the engine later but it is running good as is and just needs a little help making some horse power to go with the torque it has.

I can't help you with the carb.,but you have to watch your hood clearances with a C3,you cant use a high rise manifold,I used a performer 2101 non EGR manifold, with a Q-Jet,and a low pro air cleaner, have almost an inch clearance,if you use a higher intake ,you have to punch a hole in your hood
,or go for a taller hood

Hi Steve,
How about several threads worth of reading enjoyment and testomonials? Several of us are running your desrcibed set up. This EDELBROCK link should let you read plenty about our past Woes and Hooray's about choices at hand.Tuxblacray 2009-03-11 05:45:32
