Did a 1968 big block corvette have an accelerator limit switch? if not what is the switch mounted to the bracket where the accelerator comes thru the fire wall?

If it's an automatical trans, that switch is for the 'kickdown', or 'passing gear' for the trans. On the '73-early '76 cars, it also functioned as the switch for the 'cowl induction' flap on the hood.

Actually I have an assembly manual but it doesn't address this switch or I couldn't find it.

Check in the 'Instrument panel, LH side', in the wiring section. That's where it is in the '74 man. The switch location is the same, but the actual switch is a little different. I sent you an IM with more info.
