Just installed a MidAmerica chambered dual exhaust on my 79 and love the sound and power. Used a "dual exhaust" mounting kit that they offer. I may get a second one, as it is just designed to support the pipes right at the dual hole crossmember (tranny) and there is no additional support until you get to the tail pipe. I am thinking I will add a set of mounts at the crossmember ahead of the diff. In any case, the dual mount kit was pretty cheap and it works.

I don't have a lift in my garage either, am too old to lay under these things, so here is what I did as an interim solution (until my wife buys me a lift 
). Harbor Freight sells a long frame jack that will lift a car about 3 ft, and a set of heavy 12 T jackstands that have a working height of about 3 feet. Although not a lift, it lets me sit under the car and work much more comfortably than with the usual mess. The jackstands are about 75 bucks a pair and the jack is about 150 - but well worth the investment if you don't like laying on your back while working.

Thanks for the tip. I will check out the Harbor Freight offerings. I have the same Mid America chambered system that I will be installing and I agree that it's quite a reach from the trans back to the rear mounts for those pipes to be unsupported but at least there are no heavy mufflers that need support. I can't wait to hear what it will sound like. It has to be better than that restrictive 32 year old cat. Please let me know what you come up with if you do add any other mounts to your system. You guys are awesome!
