Dies on hills

I have a 77 vette and when I go up hills (steep ones)the car acts like it is out of gas. It starts to miss and if I don't get on a flat surface it will die. I can start it after a few minutes but can't get this to stop.
Rebuilt the carb, new fuel pump, new cat convertor and fuel filters... HELP

When you rebuilt the carb, did you replace the floats and make sure they're at the proper level?

You should also check your fuel pressure. The fuel pump may be weak. Do a pressure and volume test. There's also a possibility the fuel pickup in the tank may have it's screen clogged.

Like gunslinger said ,youve got a fuel starvation problem somewhere,either your floats are set too low,maybe the vent tube is blocked,low pressure from the pump,partially blocked line or tank screen. does it die out on level ground when you stand on it?

I have the same problem. No problem with a full tank of gas. Starts occuring at 1/2 tank. Yes, I have the problem when I stand on it or go up a steep hill. Could it be water in the tank?

Don't forget to check for pin hole leaks in the fuel lines. They can suck air but not leak gas. Sound weird but I have seen it many times, on many different cars.

It sounds more and more like a fuel problem in your gas tank. The entire tank may have enough sludge or water to require removal and cleaning, or maybe the there is a problem with the pick-up tube or screen as has been mentioned before. Maybe try a new gas cap as well. I don't know if you're supposed to have a vented cap or not, but a wrong or bad one can create problems under certain conditions.

Still have the problem so I am having a pro work on it.
Going to replace the fuel tank and explore the sending unit for a bad pickup sock.

I got it fixed.... pick up sock was clogged big time.

IT was the pickup sock (tube) that was plugged.
